Ly Son Island


Ly Son Island is located in the north-east of Quang Ngai Province, about 15 nautical miles (27km) from mainland. Ly Son Island holds an important strategic position in the East Sea of Viet Nam and contains diversified tourism potential and valuable documents on Hoang Sa Archipelago.

Ly Son Island, formerly known as Re Island, is biggest one in Ly Son Island District including 3 communes of An Vinh, An Binh and An Hai, with a total area of about 10km², about 24km from the mainland. The island is distinguished for its vast garlic fields, hence also called the kingdom of garlic. The island has some prominent craters, the largest of which is Thoi Loi Mountain. With other mountains such as Gieng Tien, Hon Vung, Hon Soi and Hon Tai, these create the wild and gigantic beauty of Ly Son.
