O Loan lagoon

 

O Loan is the name of a very large lagoon in Phu Yen. It is a national landscape of Vietnam, a typical province. O Loan is a brackish water lagoon located on the east along National Highway 1A, at the foot of Quan Cau Pass.

The lagoon is located in the south of Chi Thanh Town, Tuy An District, Phu Yen Province. The lagoon is wider than 17.5 km² with an average depth of 1.2 to 1.4 meters; The rainy season can be as deep as 3 meters. Song Cai and some small rivers supply fresh water to the lagoon. A small creek with seagrass beds. The surrounding area is Dong Chay Mountain, Cam Mountain and An Hai Islet. 

According to ancient legends in heaven there is a beautiful fairy but mischievous and stubborn girl named Loan. One day, she borrowed a bird flying down the horizon and roamed all over the place without ever noticing the bird's tiredness, hunger and thirst. When crossing Tuy An, birds no longer have the strength to fly so they landed on the mountain of Compassion - a small branch of Quan Cau Pass. After this, people around the area have merged the name of "O Thuoc" bird  and her name Loan, called O Loan for the name of the lagoon. O Loan can be considered as a tourist attraction Phu Yen is very wonderful that few places are comparable. Standing on Quan Cau Pass, look down, O Loan lagoon is about 1200ha, looking back from the distance, it looks like a spreading wings showing wings.
